After my tour on the Urauchi river I took the city bus toward Uehara pier. I got off at Hoshizunanohama stop to access one of the most beautiful beaches in the north of the island. This beach is world famous because of its characteristic sand. The sand is composed of an accumulation of billions of foraminifera’s shells which are star shaped. Romantic isn’t it? These are single-celled organisms living in shallow salt water. How amazing!!! Facing the beach, there is a small gift shop where you can also have lunch. It is an ideal place to take a rest. I got a friendly welcome and the coffee is excellent.
