I visited the palace long time ago, but it is an old memory and I can no longer remember when it was. So it is with a fresh eye that I stared this rather unique tour of the Papal palace in company of a Japanese group. A French guide speaking fluently Japanese showed us around. Beyond the historical aspect it is the mix of architectural styles that surprises: walls several meters thick are opposed to lace like stone architecture. What touched me the most are the frescos that have survived the fire that destroyed the palace in 1413. The Grand Chapel with its unbalanced architecture that hosts regularly modern art exhibitions is also worth a glance.
