Arrived at the station, I am pleased to contemplate a panoramic view of Mount Fuji. One I had already seen while ridding then cable car. Here a cap is a must have, since an icy wind blows hard. What is surprising is the strong smell of sulfur that comes from the hot springs that can be approached by climbing on the mountain slopes. The place is also very famous for its kuro-tamago (literally “black egg”), the eggs cooked in the water of onsen which gives this color so surprising. According to tradition, their consumption increases life expectancy: eat one would bring seven extra years of life. After three eggs, my stomach was begging for mercy…
